Is Privacy History? Top 5 Ways You Are Being

Is Privacy History? Top 5 Ways You Are Being Digitally Monitored and Catalogued Daily

December 11, 2012 | By  31 Replies
What if somebody told you that you were being monitored inside and outside your home 24 hours a day? Would you believe them? Most people wouldn’t. However reality is often scarier than fiction. Chances are if you’re reading this, you likely live in a nation that utilizes the following tracking methodologies that have only one purpose…to digitally record and catalogue your every move.
For the past two decades, there has been a malevolent movement across industrialized nations to track individuals without their knowledge and with a total disregard for privacy.
Just two years ago, the Associated Press reported that 100,000 cell phone years were being secretly tracked outside of the United States. That first-of-its-kind study by Northeastern University raised privacy and ethical questions for its monitoring methods, which were illegal at the time in the United States.
The scientists would not say where the study was done, only describing the location as an industrialized nation. Researchers used cell phone towers to track individuals’ locations whenever they made or received phone calls and text messages over six months. In a second set of records, researchers took another 206 cell phones that had tracking devices in them and got records for their locations every two hours over a week’s time period.
The study was based on cell phone records from a private company, whose name also was not disclosed.
Spying by big brother and now international corporations is habitual across the globe. It can take on any form from listening to phone calls, intercepting wireless communications, infiltrating protest groups, monitoring emails/internet usage, biometrics and many more. Agencies are increasingly connected through various information sharing measures, making it more likely that information collected on an individual by a small police department could end up in the hands of a lettered agency’s database such as the FBI or CIA.
According to the ACLU’s recent report, we are living in a surveillance society where domestic surveillance and erosion of privacy standards are at an all time high.
Here are the top 5 ways you are being digitally monitored and tracked on a daily basis:
1) Computers and Internet – Internet browsers are recording your every click forming detailed cookies and browsing sessions on your activities.  The NSA has been exposed as having cookies on their site that don’t expire until 2035.  Major search engines know where you surfed last summer, and online purchases are databased, supposedly for advertising and customer service uses.  IP addresses are collected and even made public.  Controversial websites can be flagged internally by government sites, as well as re-routing all traffic to block sites the government wants to censor. It has now been fully admitted that social networks such as facebook and twitter provide NO privacy to users, while technologies for real-time social network monitoring are already being used.  TheCybersecurity Act attempts to legalize the collection and exploitation of your personal information.  Apple’s iPhone also has browsing data recorded and stored.  All of this despite the overwhelming opposition to cybersurveillance by citizens. The fact that laptops — contributed by taxpayers – spied on public school children (at home) is outrageous.  Years ago Google began officially to use computer “audio fingerprinting”for advertising uses.  They have admitted to working with the NSA, the premier surveillance network in the world.  Private communications companies already have been exposed routing communications to the NSA.  Now, keyword tools — typed and spoken — link to the global security matrix.
2) GPS – Global positioning chips are now appearing in everything from passports, to cars.  More common uses include tracking employees, and for all forms of private investigation.  Apple recently announced they are collecting the precise location of iPhone users via GPS for public viewing in addition to spying on users in other ways. Cell phone tracking via GPS and location privacy is starting to emerge as a big issue, especially with more GPS enabled cell phones on the market. Most VOIP and e911 rules now require that your phone must be registered with your location data when you make a 911 call. However, many users are discovering that their GPS phones are transmitting their location 24 hours per day.
3) RFID  – It becomes unnervingly easy to imagine a scenario where everything you buy that’s more expensive than a Snickers will sport RFID tags, which typically include a 64-bit unique identifier yielding about 18 thousand trillion possible values. KSW-Microtec, a German company, has invented washable RFID tags designed to be sewn into clothing. And according to EE Times, the European central bank is considering embedding RFID tags into banknotes by 2005. RFID  “proximity cards”take tracking to a new level in uses ranging from loyalty cards, student ID, physical access, and computer network access.  Latest developments include an RFID powder developed by Hitachi, for which the multitude of uses are endless — perhaps including tracking hard currency so we can’t even keep cash undetected. (Also see microchips below). VeriMed is the first and only FDA-approved patient identification system that uses an implantable RFID microchip. Hewlett-Packard recently announced it’s working on a project it calls the “Central Nervous System for the Earth” which will deploy a trillion sensors all over the planet.
4) Biometrics – The most popular biometric authentication scheme employed for the last few years has been Iris Recognition. The main applications are entry control, ATMs and Government programs. Recently, network companies and governments have utilized biometric authentication including fingerprint analysis, iris recognition, voice recognition, or combinations of these for use in National identification cards. Data from closed-circuit televisions mounted in a public spaces can feed into biometric software that uses a template to determine relative distances and relationships between various facial features. If the software matches the facial features from the live feed with those in any specific database, it can be recorded and archived for future use. There is currently no regulation anywhere in the world to protect the right of privacy for the features one shows in public. Admittedly used at political campaign events, sporting events, and most recently at the G8/G20 protests in Canada, biometric facial recognition is also harvesting data from Facebook images and surely will be tied into the street “traffic” cameras.,
5) Blood, Body and DNA – Blood from babies has been taken for all people under the age of 38.  In England, DNA was sent to secret databases from routine heel prick tests.  Several reports have revealed covert Pentagon databases of DNA for “terrorists” and now DNA from all American citizens is databased. Digital DNA is now being used as well to combat hackers. The timeline for integrating injectable nano-microchips inside of vaccines is speculative, but it could be just a few years, months or perhaps it is here and we already unaware of their integration within pharmaceuticals. Regardless, due to the many military and political advantages, their implementation is inevitable. Nanobot technology could just as easily be used to advance monitoring and biological weapons as they can to advance human health. dubious modalities are being modeled in neuroscience to make perpetrators of crimes accountable before they even commit these crimes. Dubious brain scanning modalities are being modeled in neuroscience to make perpetrators of crimes accountable before they even commit these crimes. New security airport scanners are so efficient they can pick up passengers’ personal details such as breast and genital size. The hi-tech machines now installed in major airports worldwide are the subject of great controversy since the scanning technician is able to print, export, store or transmit the image.
All of this is leading to Predictive Behavior Technology – It is not enough to have logged and charted where we have been; the surveillance state wants to know where we are going through psychological profiling.  It’s been marketed for such uses as blocking hackers.  Things seem to have advanced to a point where a truly scientific Orwellian world is at hand.  It is estimated that computers know to a 93% accuracy where you will be, before you make your first move.   Nanotech is slated to play a big role in going even further as scientists are using nanoparticles to directlyinfluence behavior and decision making.
The more we refuse these invasive technologies, the greater the opportunity to defeat them and terminate their use. We must stand united and refuse to be scanned, tracked, traced, injected or recorded against our wishes. Further compliance by the public will only guarantee further restriction and corruption of our privacy and freedom.

Anonymous avenges death of Aaron Swartz with takeover of US government judicial website and message of freedom

(NaturalNews) Mere weeks after the death ofinternet revolutionary Aaron Swartz who was threatened with 50 years of prison time by the U.S. government, the group Anonymous has struck back with a takeover of the U.S. Sentencing Commission website. (IP address of 66.153.19.162)

That attack took control of the website and replaced it with the following message from Anonymous:

Citizens of the world,

Anonymous has observed for some time now the trajectory of justice in the United States with growing concern. We have marked the departure of this system from the noble ideals in which it was born and enshrined. We have seen the erosion of due process, the dilution of constitutional rights, the usurpation of the rightful authority of courts by the "discretion" or prosecutors. We have seen how the law is wielded less and less to uphold justice, and more and more to exercise control, authority and power in the interests of oppression or personal gain.

Right from the start, let me say on the record that this statement from Anonymous is 100% accurate and true. Over the last few years, the U.S. government has become an outright tyranny. It is now obvious that the entire Homeland Security apparatus that we were told was being built for "terrorists" was actually being constructed to spy on and suppress American citizens. The armed government raids on raw milk producers, home farms, vitamin companies, ministries and other innocent operations have reached a point of insanity. And now, the government wants to disarm the American people, creating a monopoly of force in the hands of the government itself.

These are all red flag signs that freedom is being suffocated in America, and in its place a totalitarianistic regime has been erected and rolled out.

Aaron Swartz was only the latest victim of an out-of-control federal government whose prosecutors seem to take great pleasure in destroying as many innocent lives as possible. Swartz was facing 50 years in prison for the "crime" of downloading academic papers from servers at MIT -- the very same papers that were freely distributed to other students of the school. Only in a totalitarianistic police state could "downloading academic documents" earn a person 50 years in prison, and it is the outright insanity and absurdity of this situation that apparently motivated Anonymous to take this action against the government.

It also appears that the US government is all but defenseless against Anonymous, a group that seems capable of locating secret documents and taking over websites at will.

Secret documents soon to be made public

In addition to taking over the US government website, Anonymous also says it has copied "secret information" that it may choose to make public.

As of the time of this writing, I could not find any details on what these documents might contain, but given that virtually everyone in the highest levels of government today is an outright criminal running various scams and rackets, the documents are bound to be extremely embarrassing to the government.

Anonymous describes them as follows:

The contents are various and we won’t ruin the speculation by revealing them. Suffice it to say, everyone has secrets, and some things are not meant to be public.

At a regular interval commencing today, we will choose one media outlet and supply them with heavily redacted partial contents of the file. Any media outlets wishing to be eligible for this program must include within their reporting a means of secure communications.

America is an occupied nation

For the record, Natural News acknowledges that the United States of America is now an occupied nation taken over by an illegitimate cabal of traitors and infiltrators who are seeking to dismantle all the rights, freedoms and protections put in place by our Founding Fathers. We seek the restoration of due process, personal privacy, individual liberty and wholesale freedom. We seek the outright repeal of the Patriot Act, the DMCA, the NDAA and other extremely abusive laws which characterize the criminal regime currently occupying the highest levels of government.

We do not endorse violent revolution but, instead, advocate truth-telling, whistleblowing and exposing the lies and deceptions of the current regime rather than attempting to restore the Republic by force. We believe in the power of the People to overcome oppression, and we believe that information should be set free.

I previously wrote about the death of Aaron Swartz, characterizing it as a government murder. The sad part is that the attempted prosecution of Swartz is just one of a long train of abuses against the people that have been committed by this tyrannical regime in Washington D.C. I can't even tell you how many small businesses, ministries and nutritional companies have come to me privately, off the record, with their horror stories of being threatened and intimidated by the FTC (yes, the FTC) into signing "consent decrees" where they are forced to admit to "crimes" they never committed (such as selling "adulterated drugs" which were actually nothing more than cherry extracts). The FDA is alsoengaged in extortion rackets.

Underneath the manipulative language of Obama, the federal government today has become a destructive, abusive dictatorial regime that's rife with abuses of power. I've seen criminals run free and innocents get thrown in prison. Prosecution of crimes in America is now completely subjective and nonsensical, and the only people targeted with criminal indictments today are those individuals who the system is trying to silence or eliminate.

America has become a nation of mafia-run justice, where the mafia is the government. Anonymous gets that, and its members seem dedicated to striking back against the empire using whatever tools are available.

Now you know why Feinstein, Obama and Biden are trying to completely disarm the American population: They don't want people to be able to fight back against the massive rollout of dictatorial tyranny they have planned for America. But it's now apparent that the illegitimate criminals who are trying to take over America are facing resistance at every turn: information resistance, political resistance and even resistance by force if you believe some of the blogs people have posted where they swear they would rather die than give up their guns to the government.

I can't help but think the U.S. government has vastly underestimated its electronic vulnerabilities. It seems to be trying to roll out tyranny by following in the footsteps of people like Adolf Hitler, but it does not realize that the next revolution for freedom is likely to be an electronic revolution rather than a physical one. Guns are important for liberty, but principled hackers are the real game changers.

When You Have the Right Vibe, It’s Not a Coincidence: Synchronicities, Energy Healing, and Other Strangeness in the Field

Amy L. Lansky, PhD, Reality Sandwich
Waking Times
The following is excerpted from Active Consciousness: Awakening the Power Within [1], recently released from R.L.Ranch Press.
One piece of evidence for the holographic nature of nonstandard fields that have been proposed in recent years — the zero-point field (a candidate for the unified field [2]), the psi field of psychic phenomena, Ervin Laszlo’s Akashic field [3], and the morphic fieldproposed by Rupert Sheldrake [4] — is that they all share a common feature: sensitivity to similarity in vibration.
If a holographic image has many different holograms embedded within it, shining a laser of a specific frequency upon it will cause only those holograms made with lasers of the same frequency to stand out.  That’s because things with the same vibration naturally resonate and reinforce one another — just as two violin strings at the same pitch resonate with one another. This property of resonance has [also] been used to explain how each of us might interact with mysterious fields like the psi or Akashic fields… People pick up only that with which they personally “resonate.” Each individual’s resonant frequency, determined by their life experience, physical body, and energy body, limits what they can perceive.
Biologist Rupert Sheldrake’s theory of morphic resonance also depends upon similarity in vibration. Members of the same species, being “on the same wavelength,” are able to tap into information that pertains uniquely to them. And while members of an entire species might be able to tune into a fairly broad spectrum of frequencies (think of Carl Jung’s notion of the collective unconscious that humans supposedly tap into [5]), smaller, more tightly connected groups — such as members of the same family or loving couples — resonate in more focused zones of vibration; they have access to their own “private frequency.” In fact, Sheldrake goes even further and suggests that morphic fields can explain how human memory operates. Instead of being stored in our brains, he suggests that memories are stored in the morphic field. Our brains then pick them up via resonance, like radios tuning to their own private stations.
The existence and importance of similarity in vibration has also popped up in psi experiments. For example, individuals gifted at psychokinesis — the ability to affect physical objects with the mind — have described the experience as a feeling of resonance with those objects. A fascinating body of evidence has also been uncovered by Dean Radin and his colleague Roger Nelson at Princeton’s PEAR lab… [R]esearchers at PEAR found that connected couples can influence random event generators (REGs) more effectively than individuals working alone. Because of this phenomenon, Radin and Nelson decided to test for even larger field effects by using these random devices as “antennae.” First they placed REGs at events where people were all focused on the same thing and therefore “vibrating” similarly-for example, at music festivals, religious events, and even at the Academy Awards. The results were as predicted; these venues did indeed cause the machines’ outputs to deviate from the norm [6, 7].
Then, in 1997, they decided to place REGs at fifty locations all over the world, run them continuously, and see if they could pick up on major world events. The results were astounding. Over the next ten years, Radin and Nelson studied the machines’ reactions to 205 major world events and discovered that they did indeed respond to events that were intense on a global level — especially those that were tragic. The most striking effects occurred in response to the events on 9/11, which caused the largest daily average correlation between the machines’ outputs. Even more amazing, this correlation became noticeable a few hours beforethe first of the twin towers was hit! [8, 9] An instance of collective precognition?
Whereas world events less horrific than 9/11 probably evoke more varied vibratory responses in people (and therefore do not resonate and amplify each other as well), truly frightening events tend to evoke a more common, coherent response. As this study showed, when nearly all of the people on Earth “got onto the same wavelength” on 9/11, even machines noticed…
Synchronicity and Fields of Meaning
Similarity in vibration has also been used to explain the phenomenon of synchronicity — “coincidences” of seemingly unrelated events that share a common meaning… [A] well-known illustration of this phenomenon was described by psychiatrist Carl Jung, the originator of the notion of synchronicity [10]. One of Jung’s patients was recounting her dream about a golden scarab beetle when he heard a rapping on the window. When he opened it, a rose chafer beetle — the insect most similar to a scarab in Jung’s region — flew into the room. Jung quickly put two and two together. He realized that the mythological meaning of the scarab — an ancient Egyptian symbol for rebirth — was highly pertinent to his patient’s problems. And this was also the reason why the insect had appeared in waking life.
The phenomenon of synchronicity demonstrates a key point — the universe may not be operating like a cold, meaningless machine after all. Instead, the reality we experience each day may be flooded withfields of meaning. One field might embody the horror and violence of 9/11. Another field might be associated with a hope for rebirth. Each field of meaning has a particular vibration to it, and objects, individuals, emotions, dreams, and events with similar vibrations will tend to resonate with one another and then co-occur. This is what creates synchronicities. In fact, various theories of quantum physics requirethe existence of synchronicities [11]…
Think about it. There may be another fundamental mechanism at play in our universe besides cause and effect. Most of us think that everything that occurs in our world is due to some causal mechanism.  A causes B causes C. However, synchronicity — the co-occurrence of events within the same field of meaning — may be another fundamental reason why things tend to happen. Many things in life that we think are due to cause-and-effect or mere coincidence may actually be due to synchronicity.
Here’s an example that occurred while I was writing this book. My husband Steve and I had long admired Rupert Sheldrake’s work on morphic fields but had never met him. To us, he was a brilliant scientist living far away in England. However, in September 2008, just as I was working on the section of this book that describes his work, Steve got word that Sheldrake would be giving a talk at his research laboratory at Sun Microsystems. Now please understand; talks about things like the morphic field are not commonplace in computer research labs. In fact, Sheldrake’s talk was poorly attended. But it just so happened that one of the lab’s researchers had met Sheldrake in Scotland and had invited him to speak the next time he was in our area. When Steve heard about Sheldrake’s visit, he asked if I could also attend, and we both received an invitation to have lunch with him the next day. Before I could even finish writing about Rupert Sheldrake, I was sitting and having lunch with him! Coincidence? Or synchronicity?…
A Meaningful Cure
The powerful influence of similarity in vibration has also made its way into healing. In fact, it is the very foundation of homeopathy — an alternative medical system originally developed in Germany in the early 1800s. The word “homeopathy” literally means similar (homeo) suffering (pathy), and practitioners of homeopathy choose medicines for their patients based on a principle of cure called the Law of Similars. This principle can be described as follows:
If a substance is shown experimentally to cause a specific pattern of emotional, physical, and behavioral symptoms in healthy test subjects, then that substance can be prepared so that it can cure individuals suffering from the same pattern of symptoms.
In other words, homeopathy is the science of healing based on similarity of vibration. The Law of Similars essentially says: “likes cure likes.” Bring two things of like vibration together — a remedy and a patient — and the effect will be a cure of the patient’s disease.
Here’s a simple illustration. We all know the common effects of drinking coffee:  wakefulness, a mind full of thoughts, excited happiness, acute senses, and sometimes heart palpitations and diarrhea. These symptoms are manifestations of the vibration of coffee, and coffee imparts these qualities to those who drink it. Now, if a patient comes to a homeopath seeking help for chronic insomnia, and their insomnia is characterized by an overactive mind, excitement, acuteness of the senses, heart palpitations, and diarrhea, it is likely that the homeopath will prescribe Coffea Cruda— a remedy prepared from coffee. That’s because this patient manifests the same vibrational qualities as coffee. And if the remedy is truly homeopathic to the patient — that is, if coffee’s symptoms match his or her overall emotional, mental, and physical state — it has the potential to completely cure their insomnia, not just palliate it as a sleeping pill would do.
Of course, the most controversial thing about homeopathy is not the Law of Similars, but the way in which homeopathic remedies are made. The process, called potentization, involves a sequence of steps in which a substance is repeatedly diluted and vigorously shaken. In fact, for most remedies, these dilutions are so extreme that they do not contain even a single molecule of the original substance! Nevertheless, homeopaths have found that the higher the dilution, the more potent a remedy can be. They believe this is possible because the energetic signature of a substance is captured by the potentization process. In other words, potentization enables the innate vibrational quality of a substance in nature to be unleashed and harnessed. It is this vibration that evokes the symptoms caused by a remedy, and it is also this vibratory signature that enables the remedy to cure a similar vibratory state in a patient. Like vibrations cure like vibrations…
Water: A Potent Carrier of Information
Although homeopathy has been the target of skeptics and critics since it was developed by physician Samuel Hahnemann in the early 1800s, open-minded scientists are finally beginning to get an inkling of how the remedies might be working. Recent studies have shown that the encoding of information in homeopathic dilutions is not about their chemical composition; it’s more about the bonding structures between the molecules within them. Apparently, the shaking process (also called succussion) performed during homeopathic potentization is the critical step that develops these structures.
In 2007, a prominent researcher in the field of structured water, Professor Rustum Roy of Pennsylvania State University, showed for the first time that extreme homeopathic dilutions are not mere water, but highly structured arrangements of water molecules. In fact, various types of instruments in Roy’s laboratory were able to pick up the distinct signatures of different remedies, even at levels of dilution in which no remedy substance likely remained [12]. Homeopathic experience has shown that these unique signatures can then be transmitted to dry pills, and that the power and distinct effects of these pills remain stable indefinitely if they are stored properly…
Interestingly, the potentization process can be used to capture the energetic signature of any substance, not just those used to make homeopathic remedies. This has been shown repeatedly by several independent scientists in replicated studies. For example, consider the work of Jacques Benveniste, a French physician and medical researcher in the field of immunology who helped discover platelet-activating factor in 1972. Unfortunately, Benveniste’s career was set upon a rocky course when a colleague encouraged him to study the phenomenon of potentization. His first paper about the subject described how antibodies of immunoglobulin E (anti-IgE) could be potentized beyond Avogadro’s number (the point at which it is unlikely to find a single molecule of a substance remaining in a dilution) and still cause substance-specific effects.
When Benveniste published these results in the prestigious journal Nature in 1988 [13], he came under a barrage of attacks that lasted for the rest of his life. But perhaps this wasn’t surprising. Benveniste’s work had essentially shown that any drug could be potentized and still remain effective. That means that billions of doses of any drug could be produced for pennies — information that drug companies would spend a fortune to attack and suppress. And in fact, there is evidence that a world-wide campaign to discredit homeopathy has been funded by the pharmaceutical industry for this very reason [14, 15].
Despite the attacks on Benveniste and his subsequent loss of government funding in France, he continued his work and came up with even more astounding results. Because he suspected that the potentization process conveys an electromagnetic signal into the water of a dilution, he developed an apparatus that could digitally record it. He then transmitted this signal electronically — via E-mail — to a distant laboratory, and had it “replayed” into water there. Amazingly, the resulting water caused the same effects as the original substance.
Benveniste eventually conducted several blinded experiments using this protocol. He published a paper in the Journal of Clinical Immunology in 1997 that described one such experiment, in which a specific antigen was potentized, recorded, E-mailed to Chicago, and replayed into water in a Chicago laboratory [16]. This water did indeed cause antigen-specific effects on isolated guinea pig hearts. I saw Benveniste present this paper at Stanford University Medical School in 1999. The large lecture hall was standing-room only, but the audience was politely incredulous.
Of course, Benveniste’s new results in what he called “digital biology” were even more mind-boggling and threatening than his original paper in Nature. Not only could billions of doses of a substance be prepared cheaply using potentization, but its signature could be E-mailed and imprinted into water essentially for free… Despite the fact that other initially-skeptical scientists have successfully replicated his work [17, 18], acceptance of Benveniste’s work remains for the future. Perhaps, with the growth of a new consciousness in the scientific community, that future will arrive sooner rather than later. Indeed, in 2009, some new research conducted by Nobel prize winner Luc Montagnier confirmed the same kinds of effects that Benveniste described [19]…
The Meaning of Disease
The power of potentization is indeed one of the landmark discoveries of Homeopathy. It provides us with a method for capturing the energetic signature of any substance in nature. But perhaps even more significant is homeopathy’s therapeutic principle, the Law of Similars — because it says something specific about how fields of meaning operate and interact. There may even be a direct relationship between the Law of Similars and synchronicity.
The late psychiatrist Edward Whitmont was a student of Carl Jung and eventually became a homeopath. In his book, Psyche and Substance, he speaks at length about the relationship between homeopathy and synchronicity [20]. Psychiatrists have long known that patients sometimes alternate between specific physical symptoms and specific mental or emotional symptoms. In fact, when mental symptoms are present, physical symptoms often vanish, and vice versa. This phenomenon is an illustration of the fundamentally psychosomatic nature of disease — that disease manifests in both the psyche (mind) and soma (body)…
Homeopathy and other holistic medical systems have long recognized that disease is a body-mind affair. That is why each patient manifests a unique pattern of mental, emotional, and physical symptoms — a pattern that is an outward representation of his or her vibratory state. As Whitmont points out, each homeopathic remedy is also associated with a vibration… The Law of Similars then states that bringing together the vibratory pattern of a patient and the similar vibratory pattern of a remedy can be curative. The reason this is true, Whitmont suggests, is synchronicity… Homeopathic remedies are curative because they share the same synchronistic field as a disease and therefore can replace it within a patient’s body. Hahnemann proposed essentially the same explanation in the early 1800s for the operation of his remedies upon what he called the dynamis or vital force — the energetic etheric field that encompasses the physical body.
The fact that homeopathy has worked for millions of people for 200 years says a lot about the power of the Law of Similars. But it also says something about fields of meaning and their relationship to us in disease and in health. Just as the dream of the golden scarab said something meaningful about the psychological state of Jung’s patient, holistic practitioners recognize that each person’s unique manifestation of disease is not merely the result of genetic inheritance or the accidents of life — it is a reflection of a field of meaning vibrating at the core of their being.
Paranormal Medicine?
A couple of other phenomena witnessed in the homeopathic world are worth mentioning. Because they border on the paranormal, they are rarely openly discussed. Both tend to occur during provings — the homeopathic drug trials. The object of these trials is to see what pattern of symptoms a substance will create in healthy volunteers. Today’s provings are conducted using modern techniques like double-blinding and placebo controls. Thus, some test subjects (called provers) are given placebo while others are given the actual remedy. Since the trials are also blinded, neither the provers nor their supervisors, who collect symptom information, know who has been given a real remedy or a placebo, nor the identity of the substance being tested. Nevertheless, the following kinds of phenomena have been observed during many trials.
First, it has been noticed that the moment a prover forms the intention to participate in a proving, they often begin to experience symptoms that are later found to be characteristic of the remedy — long before the trial actually begins. While this doesn’t happen to all provers, it happens frequently enough to be noteworthy. By simply intending to join a remedy trial, a prover may enter into the field of meaning of the remedy substance. Just as paranormal phenomena often defy the normal constraints of time and space, the fields of meaning created by homeopathic remedies may as well.
The second remarkable thing about provings is that the symptoms developed by provers often directly reflect the nature of the substance from which a remedy is made. This is most obvious in the case of remedies made from animal substances… Consider, for example, the blind proving of Androctonusconducted in 1985. Even though the provers did not know that they were taking a remedy made from scorpion venom, they developed the following kinds of symptoms: overconfidence; contemptuousness and defiance; lack of feeling and cruelty; quarrelsomeness and deceitfulness; the delusion that they were about to be assaulted and a malicious desire to injure others; suspiciousness; a lack of impulse control; anxiety and fear that is ameliorated by walking around; aversion to company; and a feeling that one is alone or separated from the world [21].
Notice how evocative many of these symptoms are of scorpions — violent, cruel, and antisocial. Indeed, this remedy has been effective in treating patients with serious mental illness. In my book about homeopathy, Impossible Cure, I describe the case of one man who, thanks to Androctonus, experienced a cure of severe allergies and headaches, as well as a significant lessening of arthritis, high blood pressure, and diabetes. The man was an avid hunter, obsessed with guns and knives. He told his homeopath how he would wait until his prey came to him and how he could sense and communicate with them. Interestingly, scorpions also let their prey come to them, and they can accurately detect their victim’s location by sensing their vibrations. After taking Androctonus, this hunter was not only alleviated of his physical problems, but he also became much less interested in his extensive collection of weapons [22].
Think of it. The process of potentization may provide us with a method for accessing the very essence of the natural world. Just as Merlin the Magician showed the future King Arthur what it was like to be a fish or bird, a prover who takes a potentized remedy may learn what it’s like to be a scorpion, a dolphin, a flower, or even a mineral! Ever since we crawled out of that primordial slime, that’s been our unifying cry, “More light.” Sunlight. Torchlight. Candlelight. Neon, incandescent lights that banish the darkness from our caves to illuminate our roads, the insides of our refrigerators. Big floods for the night games at Soldier’s Field. Little tiny flashlights for those books we read under the covers when we’re supposed to be asleep. Light is more than watts and footcandles. Light is metaphor. Light is knowledge, light is life, light is light. –Television producers and screenwriters Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider
Everything in this world, from sunlight to cupcakes, is made of energy. Energy is simply information that vibrates or moves. Some energy, such as the energy composing a table or a chair, moves slowly. You can see, touch, discuss, and prove the existence of these slow-energy objects. But most of the energy in this world can’t be seen, heard, or touched through our typical five senses. It moves so fast that we can’t perceive it; usually, we can notice only its effects. Is the energy transmitted by your car radio any less real than the energy that makes up the book on your coffee table? How about the microwaves that zap your food or the satellite transmissions that zip e-mails your way? You know these energies exist, even though you can’t see them, yet they are vital to your life.
Trillions upon trillions of bits of energetic data are zinging around us 24/7, and our energetic boundaries, themselves composed of fastmoving, unseen energy, keep us from being overwhelmed by them all. Energy also composes our feelings, thoughts, and needs, as well as our inherent beliefs and spiritual essence.
Throughout history and across all cultures, intuitives, healers, visionaries, and shamans have been able to perceive the energetic fields that science is only now coming to comprehend and study. In fact, they have been able to see and work with the three systems that link our physical and spiritual energies and interact to form our overall energetic anatomy: the channels, also called the meridians; the centers, the most well known of which are the chakras; and the fields, one of which is the auric field. Other types of fields include various types of magnetic fields, morphogenetic or species-based fields, miasmic or disease-creating fields, and all sorts of other fields that link our inner self with the outer world.
The meridians spread energy throughout our body. The chakras are energy receptors or holders, located mainly inside of the body. The fields, expanding bubbles or circles of light, are found outside of our body, emanating from our skin to several feet away. These fields compose our energetic boundaries. They listen to the data in our chakras and other energy centers to determine which information to bring from outside to inside of us. The fields also communicate messages from us to the outer world. There are actually dozens, maybe even hundreds or thousands of layers or energy boundaries extending from your body. Some hover upon your skin like a butterfly kiss; others are similar to madcap children, dashing in all directions. Some of these fields perform specific activities, ranging from protecting us from dangers to attracting people to us. (For information on the scientific research about and evidence and applications of these various energetic systems, please see my book The Subtle Body: An Encyclopedia of Your Energetic Anatomy.)
The most well-known field is the auric field. Many believe that our auric field is the same as our electromagnetic field, a continually emerging and fluctuating field of energy produced by the electrical currents in our bodies. Every cell in our body pulses with electricity. Electricity produces magnetism, which means that every cell and organ, as well as the entirety of your body, generates energy fields. Kirlian photography, a scientific tool in use since the 1930s, employs a special type of film to illuminate the life energy, or auric field, around plants, animals, and people. Kirlian images reveal that all living beings emanate a set of electromagnetic fields.

These fields are interactive; they both take in and emit energy. That’s why you can sense people, or even get a read on their personalities, when they walk into your space. Our energetic fields respond to trauma and healing energies. They also react to emotions and love; when two people interrelate, their energy fields blur and merge. Science can locate the heart field from at least four to six feet away from the body, which means we’re able to exchange energy with others near us, but we can also swap energy with people hundreds of miles away. As quantum physics is proving, once two particles or people have met, they remain connected forever. That’s how you know what’s happening to your best friend who you haven’t talked with for months or how you sense the exact moment a faraway loved one dies.
Even more startling, human energetic fields invite energy-information exchanges between people who have never met, between the living and the dead, and between people from the future and present day. And this process isn’t limited to people. We can also converse energetically with plants, animals, and even inanimate objects.
No matter which scientific instruments we employ, we can take pictures of only a few of the many known energetic fields. Dozens of other scientifically proven energies, such as high-level infrared, ultraviolet, and gamma waves, as well as microwaves, expand farther than and stretch under visible light, the tiny spectrum of color we’re used to working with. Every physical cell and organ actually generates its own magnetic or auric field. Furthermore, your body is 70 percent water, and each water molecule in your body spawns its own energetic field, because water molecules have north and south poles and conduct electricity. With so many individual components of our body generating their own energetic fields, it’s almost impossible to figure out how many energy fields each of us actually has.
Most images of the auric fields depict them as rippling bands of light. This is because electromagnetic energy is light. The electromagnetic spectrum is really a band of different speeds and temperatures of radiating energy or light. At the measurable end of this spectrum are radio waves, which, with their long wavelengths and low frequencies, are considered low energy, or not very powerful. On the other end are gamma rays, which feature short wavelengths and high frequencies, and are high in energy, or very intense. Somewhere in the middle is the relatively small band of energy called visible light, the range of rainbow colors we’re actually able to see.
These various electromagnetic energies are not really different from each other. They are all made of photons, the unit of energy that creates light. This means that everything composed of electromagnetic energy is light, including your energetic fields-and you yourself. Research such as that conducted by Hal Puthoff, and discussed by Lynne McTaggart in her book The Field, is showing that we are actually made of and surrounded by photons. Our DNA is, in fact, a biophoton machine, a mechanism responding to the light outside and inside of us.
Not only are we made of light, but we also generate light. That personal, literal light radiates from deep within our bodies. It also streams right through from outside to the inside of us, not stopping for skin or clothing. Because we consist of light, our energetic boundaries are nothing more or less than light.
Our auric field actually consists of twelve different bands of light.

Each band operates at a different frequency in the electromagnetic spectrum. For instance, most intuitives and Kirlian photographers see the band closest to our skin as red. We are born with each layer intact, but each becomes active at different points in our lives, from conception all the way to our elder years. The bands become colored in, or tuned to a specific frequency, with our life experiences.

Measuring the Miracles of your Energy Field
Decades ago, only mystics and madmen believed that there was an energy field around all living beings. Now science has actually proven that series of fields exists and that the sum total is much stronger and more potent than ever imagined. In fact, research done on this field is yielding a rich base for everything from diagnosing illness to enhancing food to creating prosperity.
The new science started in 1963, when Gerhard Baule and Richard McFee of Syracuse University detected a biomagnetic field around the human heart. The prefix bio stands for biology, or the chemical processes that create life. Magnetism is the energy produced by electricity, although it can also generate on its own under certain conditions. In the 1970s, researcher David Cohen of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) used a SQUID (superconducting quantum interference device) magnetometer, a means of measuring magnetism, to confirm Baule and McFee’s results and measure the magnetic fields surrounding  the human head and produced by brain activities.
Science has since started using the magnetocardiogram and magnetoencephalogram to measure magnetism from the heart and head, respectively. The magnetic fields detected by these instruments are so strong that we can analyze them for signs of disease before disease shows up in traditional medical tests. Illness alters the biomagnetic field, and the “sick area” of a field can be tracked to the related part of the body. Even more importantly, changing the biomagnetic field changes the body, which means that pulsing magnetic fields into the body can stimulate healing.
For almost five centuries, healers across the world have used the energy of their own bodies to help others heal, to detect events before they happen, and to transform physical matter. Eastern medicine is based on these concepts, as are most shamanic methods from the Western world. It’s pretty amazing that science is now showing how these practices work in physical reality, and research is revealing the potential of these long revered, ancient practices.
For instance, in 1992, Japanese researchers studied practitioners of various martial arts and healing practices. Many of these systems are based on the idea that a natural energy called qi (chi), prana, mana, orgone, life energy, kundalini, or other names flows through the body and regulates health. These researchers discovered that the qi emission from hands is so powerful that it can be detected with a simple magnetometer consisting of two coils with 80,000 turns of wire. Since then, a number of studies of qi gong, a well-respected energy-balancing method, have measured the sound, light, and thermal fields emitted by its practitioners.
Particularly important is that the frequencies of these emanations, which often pulse, vary from moment to moment. Medical researchers creating pulsating magnetic- field therapies are discovering that these same frequencies can actually initiate healing in soft and hard tissues, even in patients who have gone unhealed for as long as forty years.
Other research is just as exciting. Bioengineering professor Henry Lai of the University of Washington, along with three colleagues, used weak magnetic fields to eliminate and heal malaria bacteria. In the study of magnetism, researchers found 33 to 70 percent fewer parasites in the exposed versus unexposed samples.
These dances into the scientific prove what ancient wisdom has already known: if you paint your world with every color of the rainbow, the world will smile back.
Exercise: Finding your Field
Want to see your energy field with your eyes? Find a private place with low or soft lights. You want to be as relaxed as possible, so you might want to sit in a comfortable chair or lie on your bed. You don’t need much light-a candle in the corner, light seeping under your door, or the moon or streetlights shining through your bedroom window.
As your eyes become accustomed to the relative dark, hold out your hands and gaze at them. Your eyes should be glazed; you might want to actually peer just beyond your hands and keep your hands in your peripheral vision.
Now move your fingertips so both hands are touching, finger to finger. Breathe deeply, sensing the spiritual flame inside your heart. Consciously invite this flame to emanate from your heart, down your arms, through your hands, and into your fingertips. After you can feel the exchange of this spirit-flame between your fingertips, examine the outside rim of both hands. You might see a hazy, rather dim corona of light. Now move your fingertips slightly apart and gaze at the electrical charge that continues to connect them.
If you want, consciously send this energetic electricity from one fingertip to another and then move this glowing blaze over your skin, up and down your fingers, and over your hands. What happens? Can you perceive a shift in the hazy white you previously perceived?
You can play with this energy as long as you desire. When you are done, gently release your fingers from their position and draw the energy back into your heart. Breathe deeply and return to everyday consciousness.
