Letters about Benghazi

LETTERS: Media cover up Benghazi scandal to favor Obama

What they did or didn’t know
On May 1, 2011, President Barack Obama held a press conference to tell us Osama bin Laden had been killed. On May 2, 2011, we were shown pictures of the Executive Cabinet in the situation room watching the raid “real time”. Now, seven weeks after the terrorist attack on the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi, Libya, we have yet to see who was in the situation room watching. Demand President Obama release the photographs taken in the situation room on September 11, 2012 and let us decide for ourselves whether Joe Biden was telling the truth about what he and the president did or did not know. If they didn’t know, they’re incompetent. If they did know, they’re disgusting, sacrificing brave Americans for political purpose only.
What we do know at this point is that someone decided to blame it on a YouTube video; Obama and Hillary Clinton recorded an apology for the video; and the video had nothing to do with the attack after all.

Waiting for the Great Pumpkin
Yet another day without coverage of the totally preventable massacre in Benghazi. You might want to tell your news editors that waiting for the Associated Press arm of the Democrat party to issue further details about the massive cover-up is akin to Linus waiting for the Great Pumpkin to appear. It’ll never happen!
The AP has shown that it will do everything it can to protect this incompetent administration. Are there no sources for fair and balanced coverage other than Fox News?

News sources are biased
For weeks and weeks I’ve scoured the pages of The Gazette looking for the daily information on the Libya “terrorist” attack. I’ve looked for information about how it had “nothing” to do with the film that the President and his staff kept telling us it was all about.
I’ve looked for numerous reports of how the terrorist attack was watched in real time for over seven hours. I looked for reports about why there was no additional help sent. I’ve looked for stories from the families of the four dead Americans. I’ve looked for stories about how Ty Woods a true American hero gave his life to help save others. I’ve looked for stories about all the emails that have been uncovered that show how poorly this administration and the State Department have handled this terrorist attack.
I’ve seen very few pieces tucked away in the paper. Yet the Friday before the election I see a front page AP puff piece story. A story that rambles and rambles and says nothing except the CIA did all they could — everything else your hear isn’t true. All from an anonymous CIA source. Really, you guys make me sick. You call yourselves a “news” paper? How do you look at yourselves in the mirror in the mornings?
From the network TV stations to the country’s newspapers — you’re so biased and so in the tank for the Democrats it really is a national security issue.

Requests had to reach Obama
I served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force. I and most military and other people like the CIA who serve our country in harm’s way want to feel confident that our commander in chief has our back. With revelations on the Benghazi attack, it looks like the commander in chief stabbed all of us in the back.
I served nearly eight years in Air Force command centers. I was the chief of one of the busiest Air Force command centers for nearly four years.
We had huge binders of checklists that covered the steps to deal with many types of incidents. The steps in the checklist had to be accomplished, and check-marked by at least two people. It directed us to contact specific commanders at the base level or agencies and commanders at the highest level if needed. I believe the requests from Benghazi had to reach President Obama. I also resent most of the networks not covering this story.

It is difficult to believe
The world’s most powerful force stood down and abandoned two of their comrades in arms, who were outnumbered and voluntarily attempting to rescue our ambassador to Libya.
Knowing that help wasn’t coming, these two heroically stood their ground and courageously fought to the bitter end in the tradition of brave Americans.
As an American who served proudly, it is difficult to believe that the chain of command, from the Commander-in-Chief down, knowingly deserted these brave men.
If this is our new standard, then I say “God save our troops! God save America!”

Cover-up won’t go away
In The Gazette Oct. 25, the main cover story was “Pause during feast” to tell us breaking news about a bobcat eating a rabbit. On page A7 “White House told of attacks” was an Associated Press watered-down version about the Benghazi cover-up.
The article indicated that the Republicans will make it an issue during the campaign. I hope so.
Like “Fast and Furious” This cover-up will not go away. The White House Situation Room knew real time that the attack was ongoing, and did nothing. Page 7 news? I don’t think so!
